Brownsville, Blues and BBQ

Memphis Jones kicked off the Exit 56 Blues Fest this weekend

Located in the rural community of Brownsville, the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center is the missing link between Beale Street blues and Jackson Tennessee rockabilly, featuring both the former home of blues legend 'Sleepy' John Estes and Flagg Grove School, the elementary schoolhouse attended by the incomparable Tina Turner. No musical pilgrimage is complete without a stop in this best kept secret along Tennessee's Music Highway.

Each Memorial Day weekend, the Exit 56 Blues Fest celebrates the blues heritage of the region with live music, local artists, a car show and championship BBQ. Although the Brownsville festival is a unique event on the Memphis Jones roster, he was proud to be invited to participate in the festival. "I realize it takes talent from small towns like Brownsville to put cities like Memphis and Nashville on the map."
